November 29, the Second Casio Cup Japanese Speech Contest was held in Ningbo University of Technology. Hosted by Japanese Division of Ningbo Education Society, and organized by Ningbo University of Technology and Casio Ningbo Branch Company, this speech contest attracted fourteen undergraduates from seven universities and colleges including Ningbo University, Zhejiang Wanli University and Ningbo University of Technology.
The contest involved two sections: speech on given topic and answering questions. First the contestants were asked to deliver a five-minute speech on the topics “Japanese Anime and Me” and “The Soft Power of Chinese Culture”. Then in the question section, the students were supposed to answer objective questions which are about Japanese culture, history, geography and society and subjective questions which required students to improvise on a topic.
After three hours fierce competition, Zhu Xiaoli, a sophomore of Japanese major in Wanli University won the first prize with wonderful performance and elegant manner. Another student Gao Hekai was given second prize. This contest not only gives us an opportunity to promote the reputation of the Japanese major of our university but also helps to show our achievements of in talent cultivation.
